Have you ever worked with a team (self-selected or appointed) where things gelled exactly when it mattered most? What about that experience made it work?

In college, I took an upper-division collaborative art class, and for one of the assignments, our group had to create a functional boat made of cardboard … that would also keep our team afloat!

After the initial exchange of incredulous “yeah, rights,” we set our focus on what kind of vessel to build … a french fry boat! We identified and divvied up the roles among ourselves based on the elements of the process that most appealed to us. We even formed subgroups like my friend Angela and I who took responsibility for decorating the structure to look like a fry container. Each team member contributed what they were best suited for.
